BAMPTD insists on removing regulatory constraints for parallel import
Sofia, September 18 / Desislava Peeva, BTA /
The Bulgarian Association for Medicines Parallel Trade Development insists on changing the regulatory framework and removing constraints. This was asked by Hristophor Ivanov, Chairman of the association during a Round Table "Promoting parallel imports in Bulgaria". 128 products from parallel imports are registered in Bulgaria, but only 75 are on the market because of the regulatory obstacle, added Ivanov.
Drugs from parallel imports are cheaper, Ivanov assured, adding that the problem of drug deficiency can be solved through parallel imports. There is a need for an adequate regulatory framework, the rapid issuance of marketing authorizations, and legal changes to improve access to medicines, he added.
Drugs "leave" Bulgaria for the policy of the National Health Insurance Fund, said Ivan Dimitrov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Patient Forum Federation.
Over the last three months, BAMPTD online drug shortages signaling platform has received 182 alerts for missing 120 products, said Boryana Marinkova, director of the association. Most were the signals from the capital, followed by Nova Zagora, Plovdiv, Shoumen and other cities. Feedback - within 24 hours, all have received. According to Marinkova, the reasons for the lack of medicines are mainly due to the suspended imports, lack of registration, and deregistration of the products.
